Gran Fondo Scholarship

Students from developing countries who wish to undertake
the Diploma in Public Health Otology and Audiology, University of Nairobi, Kenya, or on the MSc in Audiology at the University of Ghana, and who have no other source of funding and are unable to self fund.

This is a scholarship which the charity awards from funds raised by a generous supporter of the charity by completion the Gran Fondo bike ride in the Italian Alps in 2009

Who may apply?
Students from developing countries who wish to undertake the Diploma in Public Health Otology and Audiology, University of Nairobi, Kenya, or on the MSc in Audiology at the University of Ghana, and who have no other source of funding and are unable to self fund.

What will it cover?
University fees, a stipend for living expenses and return travel at the start and finish of the course for one student

When to apply?
Apply as soon as you have received an offer of a place on the course.

The scholarship is competitive and a decision will be made by the Aud-Med committee by June 30th annually before the course starts each year. This decision is final and no appeals can be made.

If there are no suitable applicants, the scholarship will not be awarded that year.

Condition: you must return to your home country and work in audiology there for a minimum of two years after the course is successfully completed.

The scholarship will be known as the Gran Fondo scholarship as in a large part it has been made possible through the effort of one of our supporters in completing the gruelling Gran Fondo cycling race of 109 miles across the Italian Alps and the generosity of his sponsors. The route covers 175km, with 15,000ft of climbing, most notably over the famous Gavia and Mortirolo Passes. At the end of the 7 hour race our sponsor commented  "I'm glad that a little suffering on my part has helped thousands in need of hearing aids and care."
